Tilt

The real thing, not Vegas.

Ceiling Eyes

Taken inside the most intricately decorated building in Paris:  The Opera Granier.   This is the ceiling of one of the window rooms.  It is on the "lunar" side.  There is a second room called the "solar" side.  The gold paint you see is actually grounded gold flakes painted on the fixture.  Bottom left a chandelier.

Venetian Sunset

This has been the most beautiful sunset I've ever witnessed thus far.

I traveled to Venice on train from Milan in 2008. At the end of the 3 hour ride I looked outside the window to see that only water filled my sights on both sides of the train. Naturally, I squeaked "OMG WE'RE IN VENICE!!!" Its not the same as seeing the pictures and watching the video clips (even in HD). Its just such a feeling of excitement and joy to be able to witness with your own eyes such beauty and marvel. I remember stepping out of the train station, to the "taxi" sign, expecting a yellow taxi to roll up on asphalt, only to see a yellow taxi float its way to my feet.

"OMG THE STREETS ARE REALLY CANALS!"

I wandered through the city until night came and arrived at St. Mark's square. There, my friends and I sat with our feet hanging over the canal edge, watching the sun set behind the Basilica.

Great euphoria came over me as I watched this common, but gorgeous site. I felt so happy and content with my life, being given this opportunity to be in Venice. I was so thankful for supportive family and friends (and kind financial allowances). I fell in love at this snapshot of my life. Its not the same as falling in love with a person or object. It was a fulfillment kind of love. I was in love not for any reason or anyone.  I was content, satisfied, and overwhelmingly pleased just to be able to watch the sun go down. It was a feeling that I reminisce about and miss dearly every time I see these photos. It was also a feeling that I hope to be able to share with another person, intimately, when time and opportunity permits.

Shoes

Shum used to be a big shoe collector, especially Nike SB Dunks. He now has moved onto Air Jordans. For his birthday and our 6th month I made him a scrap book of all his shoes. These are some pictures I've saved.

I bought these Sperries for him at a Goodwill for 7 dollars. Too bad they're too tight on him now.

Nike Air Max: Airstab

Nike SB Dunk: The Mosquitoes. I bought these for him in Paris as a favor and lugged them back to the States, only to find that they were also sold in Long Beach.

Nike SB Dunk: The Newcastle, named after Newcastle beer

Nike Blazer Lows in Royal Blue

Nike Blazers: The Pacman. The greenish outline around the bright yellow swoosh is the color Pacman turns after he is eaten.

High School

Omg look what I found...

One day in 2005 my friend and I took a visit to UCLA and decided to take some pictures in Sepia mode. These are a bit emo looking, I'll admit. They're also not of the best composition and subject matter but its okay, I like to document change.

Here we have an angled vanishing point and some repeating lines.

Symmetric benches with patches of sunlight filtering through.

"Don't jump."

Testing

Hello.

I've been meaning to do this for a long time, that is, to create a photography blog. Ever since I got back from Europe I had hundreds of beautiful pictures I wanted to share, in places other than Facebook and Myspace. For now I'm just putting up old pictures taken with a regular digital camera. When I get a DSLR things should get more interesting.

First picture I want to share: Taken with my Canon at Carlsbad flower field in May. Aren't the clouds beautiful in complimenting light colored the flowers? Composition wise, the picture is layered: grass, flowers, sky. The picture has not been edited or cropped.

This picture was taken by Shum. He won't stop talking about it so I figure I'll just post this for him. It was taken at the Getty Center in Los Angeles during one of our photo excursion days.
