L'église d'Auvers-sur-Oise

While reading of Vincent Van Gogh's biography, for probably the third or fourth time in my academic career, I found myself saddened by the bleak details of his difficult life and his mental struggles. Van Gogh is my favorite artist and whenever the opportunity presents itself, I always choose to write about him and his paintings. In his paintings I find a heart felt appreciation for the madness and whirl of emotions so simply laid out on canvas. I've been lucky enough to have seen many of his works in person, including a visit to his museum in Amsterdam, where I remember many of his amazing cherry blossom paintings. I studied L'église d'Auvers-sur-Oise, The Church in Auvers, in the Musee D'Orsay in Paris two years ago. It is beautiful and deeply meaningful to me.
